Nickel has good mechanical, physical and chemical properties. Adding suitable elements can improve its oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and some physical properties. Nickel alloys can be used as materials for electronic tubes, precision alloys (magnetic alloys, precision resistance alloys, electrothermal alloys, etc.) , nickel-based superalloys and nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys and shape-memory alloy. Nickel alloys are widely used in the fields of energy development, chemical industry, electronics, navigation, aviation and spaceflight.
Nickel-based alloys are classified by purpose:
1 nickel base superalloy. The main alloy elements are chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt, aluminum, titanium, boron, zirconium and so on. Chromium plays an anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion role, other elements play a role in strengthening. At high temperature of 650 ~ 1000 ° C, it has high strength, oxidation resistance and fire gas corrosion resistance. It is used for manufacturing high-temperature components in aero-engine blades and rocket engines, nuclear reactors and energy conversion equipment.
2 nickel base corrosion resistant alloy. The main alloying elements are copper, chromium and molybdenum. With good comprehensive performance, can withstand all kinds of acid corrosion and stress corrosion. The first were nickel-copper alloys, also known as Monel, as well as nickel-chromium, nickel-molybdenum and nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys. Used for manufacturing various corrosion resistant components.
3 nickel base wear resistant alloy. The main alloying elements are chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten, with small amounts of niobium, tantalum, and indium. In addition to wear resistance, its oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, welding performance is also good. Wear-resistant parts can be manufactured, but also as a coating material, through surfacing and spray coating process will be coated on the surface of other matrix materials.
4 nickel base precision alloy. It includes nickel-base soft magnetic alloy, nickel-base precision resistance alloy and nickel-base electrothermal alloy. The most commonly used soft magnetic alloy is the permalloy containing about 80% nickel, which has high maximum and initial permeability and low coercive force. The main alloy elements of ni-based precision resistance alloy are Cr, Al and Cu. This alloy has high resistivity, low temperature coefficient of resistivity and good corrosion resistance. Nickel-base electrothermal alloy is a kind of nickel alloy containing 20% chromium. It has good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, and can be used for a long time at the temperature of 1000 ~ 1100 °C.
Nickel-based shape-memory alloy. Nickel alloy containing 50(at)% titanium. The recovery temperature is 70 ° C, and the shape memory effect is good. The recovery temperature can be changed in the range of 30 ~ 100 ° C by changing the composition proportion of Niti. It is widely used in manufacturing auto-opening structural parts used in spacecraft, self-excitation fasteners used in aerospace industry, artificial heart motors used in biomedicine, etc. .
